Privacy policy

Vocabify is a dictionary and vocabulary practice app made by Stretch Codes (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version
Vocabify does not collect, store or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your saved words and practice history stay on your device.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following on your device only:
- the words you save, any notes you add to them, and whether you are learning them or know them
- your recent lookups
- your flashcard schedule, practice answers and daily challenge results
- your settings (theme, pronunciation accent, reminder time)
- a random identifier created on your device, used to give you your own daily challenge
We cannot see this information. It is deleted if you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Exporting your words
The Export feature creates a block of text with your saved words, notes and progress, and hands it to your phone’s share menu. It goes only where you choose to send it; we never receive it.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, or the reminders for words you are learning, the notifications are scheduled by your device. No server is involved, and you can turn them off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
Pronunciation audio
When you play a pronunciation while online, the app may stream a recording from Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org). Like any website, Wikimedia receives your IP address and basic device information when this happens; see theWikimedia privacy policy. When no recording is available, or you are offline, your device’s built-in voice is used instead and nothing is sent.
App updates
When the app opens, it checks Expo’s update service (expo.dev) for a newer version of the app’s code. The request includes technical details such as the app version and platform, and Expo receives your IP address; see the Expo privacy policy. It contains none of your words or practice history.
Links
The app may open Wiktionary pages in your browser. Those pages are covered by Wikimedia’s privacy policy.
This website
This website uses no cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Children
Vocabify does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
