Common questions
Does Vocabify work offline?
Yes. The whole dictionary, your saved words, flashcards and the daily challenge work without a connection. Only recorded pronunciations need the internet; offline, your phone’s voice is used instead.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without signing up, and your words stay on your phone.
How do flashcards decide what to show?
Each saved word becomes a card. After you rate a card (Again, Hard, Good or Easy), Vocabify schedules it to come back just before you’d forget it. Rate a word Easy once you know it well and it moves to your Known list.
Will I lose my words if I change phones?
Right now your words are stored only on your phone, so they don’t move to a new one. Optional backup is planned.
Where do the definitions come from?
From Wiktionary, the free dictionary. Many entries also have plain-English definitions and modern examples written for Vocabify, and the original Wiktionary wording is always one tap away.
How do I turn reminders on or off?
Go to More, then Reminders, and pick a time or switch them off.
